Southbeach (forgive the 4 letter word) DIET....

Some of you know that Scott and I have been following the "Southbeach Diet". Now if you are like me the nasty word diet throws you into a physiological melt down!! But I have to tell you this isn't that hard...and if you do like I do and tell yourself it's NOT a diet but a new way of life and eating healthier then it is TOTALLY doable!

If any of you are as lucky as I am your hubby does most of the cooking!! Scott is on Southbeach boards often to get new and YUMMY recipes! Here is a look at one of our FAVORITES!
This totally melt in your mouth dish is Feta and Spinach stuffed Chicken Breast wrapped in Turkey Bacon!!!
YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS IS A DIET!!!

10% to the Lord....

My lesson in Primary this week is on Tithing. I have been looking forward to this lesson for months now because, for starters, I have a strong testimony of the law of tithing and second....because I can't wait to give my kids the Tithing Banks I made for them!

Daddy Daughter Date.....

We had a Halloween Daddy Daughter Costume Date at church Thursday evening and I think it was a smash!

Here is a sample of our menu:

The only thing I recall from my primary days is the 2 Daddy Daughter Dates my father and I shared together! Even though Daddy was not a member of the church he loved going with me and I loved just having him all to myself!

We had a couple of girls who's Daddys couldn't make it so Scott filled in and was Daddy for a night! He had a lovely time getting to know Alix and Hanna and I think they enjoyed him too!

Hanna's Dad had been stuck in Flagstaff but made it for the last part of the date! I wish I had been able to take a picture of Hanna as she saw her Daddy walk in!!! She was SO happy he made it as you can see from her noticeably large smile in this picture!

Way To Be....

My Mom just picked up this book for her grandchildren
I was flipping through it and noticed the forward was written by Steve Young
and wanted to quote him.
"Way To Be" is more important than any play-book I ever had in the NFL, because it will help you avoid life's fumbles and interceptions. And that is because it is counsel from someone who is wise, someone who has your best interests at heart, someone who wants only for you to be happy and find true joy. It is like getting plays called in from the sidelines by an exceptional coach who knows which plays to call when the going gets tough and the game is on the line.

Gordon B. Hinckley is not just a wise and just man, though he is certainly that. He is a respected world religious leader and for me the ultimate earthly coach, whose counsel emphasizes the fundamentals that will hep us all win the game of life.

That oughta catch the attention of my son Colton.
Said in his kinda language!

I love you Momma.....

One of the hardest things for me as a parent is following through with discipline. I have really been trying to work on this and I think its being noticed. How do I know this you ask? Well...lately Connor has been telling me he loves me A LOT!!!

Me to Connor as he is playing a video game "Connor, do you remember that mom said you could not play games until your room is clean?"

Connor - "I love you Momma"

Me - "I love you too Connor, but you need to turn your game off until your room is clean."

Connor - "But I really LOVE you Momma!"

Me - " I REALLY love you too Connor. Game off and clean your room."

Connor - "Momma, I need a hug."

Me - "Ok come here and I'll give you a hug and then I'll help you tidy your room."

Connor - To himself I'm SURE "Got her again!"

In Memoriam....

For those who lost their lives on 9-11
And for those who serve our Country tirelessly:

We thank and salute you!

This is gonna be a LONG one.....

I ran across this while doing some much needed cleaning in my "office" and even though its long and you have probably heard it I think its worth the "re-run". Get a Kleenex.

To My Child

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.

Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play.

Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.

Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.

Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows.

Just for this evening when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.

I will think about the mothers and fathers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms, and mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and screaming inside that they can't handle it anymore.

And when I kiss you good night I will hold you a little tighter, and a little longer, It is then, that I will thank God for you, and ask him for nothing,

Except one more day!
C. Sally Meyer.
